CANA, Va. — Mrs. Mary G. Haynes, 89, of Cana, passed away Saturday, Aug. 4, 2012, at her daughter’ s home. Mrs. Haynes was born in Carroll County on Dec. 2, 1922, to General Jackson and Sarah McMillian Guynn. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be dearly missed. Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law, Ida Mae Gwyn of Mount Airy and Dorothy and George Gwynn of the home; sons and daughters-in-law, Victor Franklin and Karen Haynes of Cana and J.D. and Susan Haynes of Siloam, N.C.; grandchildren, Betty Jean Gwynn, J.C. Gwynn, Crystal Bullins, Steven Haynes, Kevin Haynes and Frankie Haynes; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Earnestine Boyd of Mount Airy; and brothers and a sister-in-law, Jonah and Alma Guynn of Mount Airy and Jay Guynn of Cana. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Haynes was preceded in death by her husband, Victor Haynes; a daughter, Macie Haynes; a grandson, Ronald Lee Gwynn; sisters, Martha McMillian, Virginia Allen and Elsie Guynn; a brother, Josah Guynn; and a son-in-law, Cecil Gwyn. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2012, at Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church by the Rev. Isreal Gwyn and the Rev. Terry McMillian. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home. The family would like to express its heartfelt gratitude to Mountain Valley Hospice, all the nurses and aides, especially Delma Bryant and her caregiver for the past two years, Julia Barr.
