DOWDY

MOUNT AIRY — Aaron Steven Dowdy, 19, of Mount Airy, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2012. Aaron was born in Surry County on Aug. 9, 1993, to Tim and Brandy Hiatt Dowdy. “Aaron had a brilliant mind and was a caring, loving soul.” He was proud of being a graduate of Mount Airy High School and really enjoyed needling his “Greyhound Dad” about being a “Mount Airy Bear.” He was a student at Surry Community College. Surviving are his loving parents, Tim and Brandy Dowdy of the home; a brother, Edward Nickerson of Greensboro; a sister, Samantha Puckett of Boonville; his maternal grandparents, Rex and Colleen Hiatt; his paternal grandfather and stepgrandmother, Cecil Dowdy Jr. and Peggy, and his paternal great-grandmother, Margaret Dowdy, all of Mount Airy. Aaron was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Drema Dejager. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012, at Midkiff Cemetery by the Rev. Wade Edwards. The family will receive friends Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home.
