WESTFIELD — Mrs. Margie Irene Beck Baker, 88, of Westfield, passed away Friday afternoon, Oct. 26, 2012. Mrs. Baker was born Sept. 27, 1924, in Surry County, the first of 12 children born to the late Joe and Ethel O’Neal Beck. She was a homemaker and a member of Old Pine Hill Baptist Church. She is survived by a daughter, Shirley Crissman of Siloam; a son and two daughters-in-law, Wade and Wanda Baker of Westfield and Marie Craddock Baker of White Plains; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; four sisters and a brother-in-law, Marie Steele of Ararat, Betty Fuller of Mount Airy, and Jannie and Junior Crissman and Lucille Crissman, all of Siloam; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Peggy Collins of Westfield. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Baker was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Edgar Baker; an infant daughter, Wanda Gail Baker; a son, Edgar Lee Baker; a son-in-law, Esker Crissman; two great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; a sister, Annie Bryant; and six brothers, Howard Beck, Elmer Beck, Paul Beck, John D. Beck, A.C. Beck and Jacob Beck. The funeral service will be held Monday, Oct. 29, 2012, at 4 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Dan Buie officiating. Burial will follow in the Whitaker Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
