LAMBSBURG, Va. — Mr. Carroll Gray Hawks Jr., 55, of Lambsburg, passed away Thursday, Oct. 25, 2012, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mr. Hawks was born Aug. 23, 1957, in Galax to Christine Walker Hawks and the late Carroll Gray Hawks Sr. Mr. Hawks served as a combat medic in the United States Army. He worked as a critical care paramedic with Catawba County Emergency Medical Services. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Amanda and Roger Lukasof Advance, N.C.; a son and daughter-in-law, Andrew Grayson and Courtney Goins Hawks of Fairbanks, Alaska; three grandchildren, Caleb Gray Childress, Madelyn Danielle Lukas and Hailey Michelle Lukas; his mother, Christine Walker Hawks of Mount Airy; and two brothers and sister-in-law, Clarence Hawks of Mount Airy and Ronald and Selena Hawks of Safety Harbor, Fla. The funeral service will be held Monday, Oct. 29, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy by the Rev. Bill Spurlin, the Rev. Dud Spencer and the Rev. Israel Easter. Burial will follow in the Chestnut Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials be made to Moody Funeral Home, P.O.
