SILOAM — Mrs. Hattie Mae Crissman Beck, 86, of Siloam, widow of the late Dock Coolidge Beck, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2012, at Northern Hospital of Surry. She was born on Aug. 5, 1926, in Surry County to the late Byrd Washington and Nannie Jane Cummings Crissman. Mrs. Beck worked for Renfro in Mount Airy for 16 years, and was a farmer. She was a member of Pine Hill Friends Church. Mrs. Beck is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Judy (Benton) Gillespie of Dobson and Joyce (Wade) Key of Siloam; two sons and daughters-in-law, Roger (Claudine) Beck of Siloam and Jimmy (Deana) Beck of Siloam; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and one sister-in-law, Mary (John) Arnder of Mount Airy. Mrs. Beck was preceded in death by her husband; parents; one son, Benny Beck; and one daughter, Betty S. Beck. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, Nov. 2, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Pine Hill Friends Church with the Rev. Jeff Wall officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The Beck family will receive friends on Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Cox-Needham Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Joyce and Wade Key. The family would like to extend a sincere appreciation to Central Continuing Care, Rhonda, Sue and Bonnie.
