MOUNT AIRY — Mrs. Billie Marie Mauldin Eckenrod, 86, of Mount Airy, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013, at Central Continuing Care in Mount Airy. She was born in Surry County on June 21, 1926, to the late Roy Franklin and Annie Mae Brintle Mauldin. Mrs. Eckenrod was a homemaker and was a member of Dover Baptist Church. She is survived by two stepdaughters and their spouses, Gerri and Fred Scarborough of Jacksonville, Fla., and Lynn and John Zidlick of Charleston, S.C.; a stepson and his spouse, Roger Dale “Butch” and Betty Lou Eckenrod of Greensboro; seven stepgrandchildren; 14 stepgreat-grandchildren; one stepgreat-great-grandchild; a sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Jessie Tilley of Mount Airy; five brothers and sisters-in-law, Bob and Mildred Mauldin, Ben and Sylvia Mauldin, Arnold and Brenda Mauldin, Max and Patty Mauldin and Rex and Sue Mauldin, all of Mount Airy; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Eckenrod was preceded in death by her first husband, Virgil Bennett; her second husband, William Rudolph “Bill” Eckenrod Jr.; an infant sister, Susan Rebecca Mauldin; and a stepgrandson. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jeremy Morton officiating. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. SUPPLY — Dallas R. Pruitt Jr., 63, of Supply and formerly of Winston-Salem, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013. He was born in Mount Airy on June 12, 1949. Remembered is his father, Jim Pruitt, who preceded him in death. Dallas was retired from Winston-Salem Police Department after 20 years of service. He was a member of Brunswick Islands Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon for many years. A member and co-founder of Tri-Beach Car Club, had a great love for fishing and hunting and being outdoors. His love for his Lord and Savior was always evident before others and his strong faith was his witness in life. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Melodee Pruitt; two sons, Todd Pruitt (Heather) and Justin Pruitt (Tiffany); six grandchildren, Aubrie, Eli, Emma, Maggie, Rowan and Aaron; his mother, Ruby B. Pruitt; one sister, Teresa Fritts (Randy); brother-in-law, Kent Allen (Donna); and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Memorial donations may be made to the Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401. The family will see friends on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, from 1 to 2:45 p.m. at Brunswick Islands Baptist Church, 1672 Mt.
