ENNICE — Mrs. Blondell Matthews Jones, 80, of Ennice, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013, at Vienna Village in Pfafftown. She was born on Dec. 15, 1932, in Surry County to the late John Thomas and Lydia Patterson Matthews. Mrs. Jones was a homemaker and was a member of Sparta Presbyterian Church. She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Hobart and Tanya Jones of Mount Airy, Tim and Vanessa Jones of Statesville and Ken and Denise Jones of Winston Salem; six grandchildren and spouses, Amanda and Justin Minshew of Goldsboro, Ashlee Jones of Charlotte, Sam Jones of Winston-Salem, Richard and Jennifer Jackson of Winston-Salem, Zach and Jennifer Jackson of Waxhaw and Jennifer and Eric Weber of New York; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Nell Adcock of Stokesdale and Rilla Gregg of Kernersville; a brother and sister-in-law, John T. and Mary Matthews of Mount Airy; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her husband, Gaston Hobart Jones Sr. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Sparta Presbyterian Church with Pastor Bruce Benton officiating. Burial will follow in Simmons Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Pilot Mountain at 4:30 p.m. The family will receive friends Saturday from 1 to 2 p.m. at Sparta Presbyterian Church. The family would like to express its heartfelt thanks to the staff of Vienna Village for the love and care given to Mrs. Jones during her stay.
