Northern Hospital of Surry County will be having scheduled maintenance work on its phone system on Monday from midnight until 6 a.m. During these hours all outside phone lines will be unavailable.
If someone calls the main hospital line, 336-719-7000, or any other hospital extension, the line will ring but will not connect.
“We anticipate incoming call volume to be low during this early morning time of day and ask any non-emergent calls to the hospital be made before 12 a.m. or after 6 a.m.,” a hospital spokesperson said. “A special line has been set up to receive emergent calls during this time, the number is 336-583-2796.”
The spokesperson said anyone with a medical emergency should call 911 or visit the emergency room.
“This downtime will not affect internal phone lines and patient care will not be affected,” she said.
