A Muggle Quidditch match will be held at the Mount Airy Public library on Saturday at 10 a.m.
Participation is open to the public and no prior registration, or experience, is required.
The game is based on a wizarding sport played on broomsticks in the Harry Potter series of fantasy novels written by J.K. Rowling and film adaptations.
The non-magical version is a unique blend of several field sports such as dodgeball, soccer and keep-away, and can be played and enjoyed by beginners or experienced athletes.
Governed by national and international organizations, the sport is currently played at more than 100 colleges in the United States.
The local library hosted it’s first quidditch match in June as part of the athletic and wellness-themed summer reading program.
It was so popular that participants requested a follow-up date be scheduled.
“I’m glad they want to come back,” said Angela Llewellyn, library program director. “It’s very exciting.”
Randy Simmons, 18, played in June.
“It really is a whole lot of fun,” he said.
