Police reports


• A scooter valued at $1,400 was stolen in Mount Airy last week, according to city police department reports. The Tao Tao model is said to have been taken Wednesday from the home of its owner, Justin Bruce Wilson of Davis Rooms on West Pine Street.

• Kelly Shane Marion, 33, of 130 W. Lebanon St., No. 3, was arrested Wednesday at Waffle House on charges of possession of methamphetamine, a felony, and larceny, after he was encountered during a theft investigation for which other details were not listed. Marion was confined in the Surry County Jail under a $2,500 secured bond. Crystal Renee Marion, 32, also of 130 W. Lebanon St., was arrested at the same time for simple possession of a Schedule II controlled substance and jailed under a $1,000 secured bond. Both are scheduled to appear in Surry District Court on Nov. 16.

• Also last Wednesday, police were told that damage estimated at $350 had been done that day by an unknown party to a Maytag heavy-duty high-efficiency washer/dryer in a laundry room at Edgewood Place Apartments.

• Crystal Gail Lang, 38, of 234 Neil Road, was arrested on violations including driving while impaired, second-degree trespassing, possession of a Schedule II controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia on Oct. 1 after police encountered her during a suspicious-vehicle investigation in the Walmart parking lot which led to a probable-cause search of a 1995 Oldsmobile Ciera LS. Lang was confined in the Surry County Jail under a $500 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in District Court on Nov. 16.

• A case involving the obtaining of property by false pretense and larceny of items valued at more than $1,760 was reported on Sept. 30, which victimized the Fastenal Co. on North Gilmer Street, listed as the location of the crime. A known individual is said to have obtained property by false pretense which involved stealing DeWalt equipment including an 18-volt Sawzall, a 20-volt reciprocating saw, a 20-volt hammer drill, a 20-volt drill/driver, a 20-volt hammer drill/impact kit and a 20-volt cordless voltage converter; a Flextorg impact screwdriving kit; a Rock River power nut setter; a Lenox vari-bit drill bit; a lithium-ion battery charger; and Phillips bits and screws.

• Jimmy Thurmond Frazier, 33, of 192 McBride Road, was arrested on a second-degree trespassing offense on Sept. 30 at North Main and Pine streets due to being seen on city property, from which he had been banned. Frazier was held in the Surry County Jail under a $500 secured bond and is to be in court on Dec. 20.

• Gavin Marcel Green, 25, of N.C. 268, Pilot Mountain, was arrested and chargedf with second-degree trespassing on Sept. 30 at a Carolina Court location he had been banned from on Sept. 9 by Jennifer Joyce of South Village Apartments. Green, who was encountered by police on Carolina Court during a civil disturbance, was jailed under a $500 secured bond and slated for an Oct. 25 appearance in Surry District Court.

• The break-in of an outbuilding and the larceny of two push lawn mowers, orange and black in color, and scrap metal at a residence in the 1200 block of Newsome Street were reported on Sept. 29. The loss was put at $210, with Marjorie Ewing Smith of Winston-Salem listed as the victim.

• Walmart was the scene of a theft on Sept. 29, which involved NyQuil and other medicine with a total value of $40 being taken by an unknown suspect.
