The Autumn tradition of gathering to hear spooky stories in the dark will be celebrated at the Mount Airy Public Library on Monday and Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. both days, as the library’s teen theater troupe, The Dewey Decimal Players, perform the show “The Headless Horseman of Sleepy Hollow.”
The story revolves around the classic tale by Washington Irving, of nervous school master Ichabod Crane and his pursuit of a beautiful young woman named Katrina. Ichabod runs into trouble when his interest in Katrina angers the young woman’s suitor, Brom Bones. The villagers of Sleepy Hollow uneasily watch the events unfold that lead to the appearance of the Headless Horseman.
Grant Perry appears as Ichabod, Olivia Jessup portrays Katrina, and Evan Barnard is cast as Brom Bones. The storytellers that complete the cast are Abigail Carpenter, Timothy Carpenter, Kaybri Jones, Jessica Smith, Madison Mallory, Grace Paul, and Nate Whitaker. The Deweys are directed by library staff member Angela Llewellyn.
