Surry Community College recently received a donation of a 2003 Chevy Silverado from Surry-Yadkin Electric Membership Corp.
The graphically wrapped truck promotes SCC’s Construction Management Technology Program, which is the program that will benefit from this gift.
Greg Puckett, executive vice president and general manager of of the membership coop, passed the keys of the truck to SCC President Dr. David Shockley at a title transfer ceremony on Nov. 3 at the college’s Dobson campus.
“Surry-Yadkin EMC is very proud to make this contribution to Surry Community College and the Construction Management Technology Program,” Puckett said. “We are dedicated to leading and supporting initiatives that strengthen our rural communities, and our contribution to the college fits in perfectly with this commitment.”
The truck will be used for transporting construction materials to and from student project sites such as the Habitat for Humanity home builds.
“Surry Community College is very fortunate to have philanthropically minded businesses like Surry-Yadkin EMC as community partners. This donation will contribute to the success of our students and faculty,” Shockley said. “This is a wonderful gift that will benefit our Construction Management Technology program for years to come.”
