The Mount Airy Rotary Noon Club recently donated $1,500 to Shepherd’s House and $1,500 to the Museum of Regional History during the weekly meeting at Cross Creek Country Club.

The proceeds were raised from the annual Budbreak Festival, Rotary’s largest fundraiser held each spring, around the time the buds break open in the vineyards.

Mary Boyles, executive director of Shepherd’s House, the area’s only homeless shelter, accepted the check from Lee Lawson, treasurer of the Rotary Noon Club.

Matt Edwards, executive director of the Museum of Regional History, also was on hand to accept the museum’s donation.

Boyes and Edwards each expressed thanks and gratitude for the donations and gave examples of the work the money helps to continue.
